What is the difference between HD DVD Player and Blu Ray DVD player? I have a Toshiba HDTV 1080 P DVD player, but am considering a Blu-ray DVD player. Will the Blu-ray player play my regular DVDs better than my DVD player now?

Blu ray players can take both blue ray discs and regular DVD. HD movies are supported.

People rarely use HDDVDs now. Bluray players play DVDs the same as any other players and there is no difference.

BluRay player is absolutely better.
BluRay players can play BluRay discs, which can hold HD movies and have more storage space than regular DVDs. A BluRay player can also play regular DVDs, but a regular DVD player can't play BluRay.
From a physical level, the regular DVD player uses a red laser and Blu-Ray uses blue one, which promises a faster accessing speed.
