Anyway, my laptop crashed and I now want to get my ipod music onto my computer desktop. But how? I do not know about computer well. Please give me details about what to do step by step. Any simple tool is appreciated!

Don't worry about that. An iTransfer tool will help you resolve your problem. I personally recommend imElfin iTransfer to you.
Simply connect your iPod to computer, run imElfin iTransfer, all songs and other files on your iPod will be loaded at once. Head to iPod category on the left panel, then drag and drop the songs you want to transfer to the iTunes category. You can also right-click and choose to transfer to iTunes.

iTunes is indeed functional, just appears irritating at times.
Perhaps you can use a tool like iPod Computer Transfer to transfer songs between your computer and ipod.
